is: i'm learning french.
me: oh really?
is: yeah. i know like.. ca va.
me: oh. haha then what do you say back? ca va, right.
is: no. you say, "ca va bien, merci."
me: ok, then you're just more polite than i am.
is: eh we should learn another language.
me: like what?
is: german?
me: too.. rough.
is: japanese?
me: no.
is: korean?
me: too.. out of fashion.
is: italian?

me: neither did i.. anyway we're classmates. we took exactly the same subjects.. hmm oh but i think in switzerland they also speak this weird thing called romansh. maybe that's your "swiss".
is: no la. they should speak romansh in rome.
me: no.
is: why not?

went out again with jeanne.
mucked around city hall a bit.
tried on this awesome pair of shoes. that were really high..
the best part was the actually fit.
and i got the saleslady to go on her knees to adjust the strap for me cause i didn't know how to do it myself.. so just sat there on the couch, nice and paris hilton-y while the nice lady arranged the straps for me.. and then for the other side, i decided not to be obnoxious and do it myself. which is didn't do very well.. so hey, at least one shoe fit really well..
but the problem with high strappy shoes is that they really hurt after a while.
jeanne says that all i need is conditioning. gah. a nice euphemism though, for such a painful process.
and i need to moisturize. my skin looks like it belongs to a grey dinosaur.

* gross post. i'm warning you..*
it's gross to puke so much that there's cereal and milk coming out of your nose..
and then you try and wash it out, but you don't want to chose yourself and make it worse.
and the entire time there's still partially digested cereal bits dried up in your nosehair.
and no matter where you go, there still is a slight stench of puke.
anyway, thank you jeanne and gwen for being nice mommies and taking care of me.

hey guys.
my mom's school has adopted another school in some tsunami affected area.
and they're collecting stuff.
so if you guys have anything like old clothes or uniforms that can be given away, share the christmas cheer and give them to the less fortunate.
if you could wash them then pass them to me one day that would be great.
thanks!

i'll miss rj la.
i can't bring myself to say otherwise.
it's so weird that only when it starts to fit.. you come to a point where you have to say bye.
the people.
the campus.
maybe even the teachers.
have got to admit that there was a time when i believed the people telling me that rj was this place full of stuckup kids..
and sure there are some like that.
and then there are some who are your friends only if they aren't with their *popular* group..
and there are the best ones who always wave and say hi.
boy bums that irritate you..
and then make it up by throwing you big parties..
writing sweet notes to pass to you during lecture when you are down..
walk pass you and grab your suitcases so you won't have to carry them.
won't give you their jacket in cold lts but offer their pe shirts..
or offer their jackets when they leave the lt..
and offer to bash up people who are mean to you..
girl bums like hong yan who are just so extremely sweet you just kick yourself for not being as great as her.. being all motherly and taking care of me during camps.. and lysis when i had to perform with sore eyes..
yus who's always there smiling away, making sure you're taken care of..
vid who swings by in the middle of the night with brownies for your birthday..
mel who lent me her umbrella one stormy day.. and then got drenched herself..
and most of the girls that you know.. who just smile..
or fix your hair when it's messy..
and hang with you during rehearsals..
give you nice birthday presents..
or hugs when you need them
and other stuff like that..
and i'll miss both campus..
perhaps more the ghim moh one..
lt2.5 where you see practically half the school at any one time, and have to squeeze through people..
disgusting lt1 flats and impromptu stages.. that were still so fun putting up..
sleeping on the cold steps in the spex gal sharing a bag with vid..
my locker which was always the highest.. and that was great..
climbing over the gate.. which i do very badly.. and boys like ranon have to climb halfway and sit in the middle or stand on either end to catch me if i fall..
good times.
it's maybe sometimes you wish that someone from your life will just drop by and say hi.
or call for a long chat about what has passed..
i can't bring myself to say otherwise.

me: eh. do you remember siva.. from your batch?
sis: oh.. he's quite ugly. is he still?
me: hmm.. no la.. maybe he just got better..
sis: ..so what is he now, a musician?
me: no la. he's a pe teacher in rj.
sis: ...
me: ya and he was listed in some most eligible bachelor thing..
sis: i know.. how did he ever get that?!
ah well. sis and i are mean gossip people.
gah. took me two hours to
take off shoes;
fend off mom's comments;
laze on couch to get enough energy to
walk into room
take off dress
take off contacts (this look really long since my eyes were super dry)
recover
take off makeup (this took too much time too)
bathe
turn on the air con
change
draw the curtains
sleep.
and 6 hours later i see weeghee all bright and happy with his family..
and give him a shout out.
and he called me back later.
"my grandma thinks you're my school teacher."
...
marvellous.
from panda eyes to oldie.

20 hours till prom.
it's amazing how *not* excited i am.
gah.
2 years ago, i had my nails properly buffed and painted, my dress properly tailored, my jewellery carefully chosen and laid out.. the works.
this time i didn't even bother buying a dress.
and i have no plans for after prom. which is quite loser la.
minzheng and ranon insist that i go clubbing with them..
they refuse to believe that my prom dress does not allow me to walk sideways let alone dance.

batch party at chinablack.
which i did not go for.
well partly because my friends weren't going.
and maybe cause my mom won't let me go either.
maybe i would have argued with her if i was really interested in going.
but then again i have nothing to wear.
and no shoes either since they apparently have this totally unwarranted rule against flats.
or was it heels.
from what i heard from jeanne, ac's party at chinablack was pretty dud too..
and chinablack's just another ahlian hangout.
well maybe ah beng. and then ah lians know about the skewed guy girl ratio so they go in their itsy bitsy skirts for the bengs to ogle at them.
and there's way too much smoke.
ok. call me a prude.
but they have nice drinks.
and k lin's husband's a dj there.
ah well.
it's too late to go anyway.
and besides, i'm way too much of a chicken to go clubbing alone.
which i did not go for.

woke up today. and after lying in bed for a while, got up, had a bath, brushed my teeth and got changed into my sweats to go to the gym.
and when i got up, both the elliptical machines were used by people.
which is awfully weird since the gym's usually relatively empty.
so nevermind. they came first.. let them use it.. whatever.
the irritating thing is.. these old fitness junkie tai-tais (who the hell wears *makeup* to the gym) don't seem to know the half hour per machine rule.
and the thing is, the machine only programs up to 30 minutes anyway. so they kind of have to stop..
but they go on.. and press restart again.
and again.
so i get fed up and cycle next to them.
and they are so obviously not 41kg la.
i don't get why people need to lie about their weight even to the cross trainer machine thingy..
they should have a built in weighing scale to bring these deluded taitais back to earth.
so anyway, using the machine for 45 minutes straight.. is bad enough. when they decide that they've had enough, the walk out and leave their towel and waterbottle and handphones and everything all over the machine so that people like me can't use it.
and it's irritating to just have to stand there and watch her stretch in some weird para para way and pretend to lift weights..
and she *knows* i'm waiting for the machine.
...hog.
so that was one hour gone. waiting for the two taitais who act like the gym belongs to them only.
hmph.
did 8km today. which is not bad.. i think. well for me, at least.
and then got home.
and "lurch"ed around the house a bit.
and waited for dinner to come so me and mom could go for steamboat.
which was horribly disappointing.
i kept telling her about the marina bay place soh ee brought me to where's there's so much more variety and it's only $6 per head.. just that there's absolutely no service, and live, jumping prawns that you kind of have to wash and kill yourself..
did a bit of cleaning today.
a bit of my room, but mostly the rest of the house.
vacuuming and mopping mostly. and loser stuff like emptying wastepaper bins..
we've got guests coming over tomorrow.
(or today, if you consider the fact that it's past midnight..)
class party tomorrow.
argh you little buggers.
now i have to go book the bbq pit first thing in the morning.
and buy charcoal and firestarters..
and then i'll end up all grubby faced to meet mel at strip to get her legs waxed.
guess i shuold get some sleep then.

now that dad's out of the country, it's just mom and i at home.
when we're not at each other's throats we're both actually quite nice to each other.
it's simple things like having dinner together jut now that makes me realize how much we're alike.
udon noodles and squid.
with like practically no salt..
but somehow we both like it that way.
and how i can get my extreme "stingyness" from her.
like how i went to aries to get dark blue nail polish.. cause i had some warped notion that it was a colour that could make me look cool and mysterious..
so being the cheapskate.. i went to aries to buy the $2 pot. which was the only blue they had. and it looked pretty dark.. so it was ok.
got it home and i just tried it on.
it's punk blue.
and it's not dark at all.
grah.
anyway, followed mel who follwed her brother to get dreadlocks at far east.
her brother is *scared* of me or something.. he won't look me in the eye.. like i'll eat him up or something.
yes so maybe i have gorgon hair.
but that's just in fairytales. and he knows that he won't turn into stone..
oh well.
mel's got pretty funky hair. she was like some star hair model or something.. everyone was crowding around her watching the lead stylist dye her hair..
she's got the look to pull it off anyway.
i just hope it's not fading like mine.

i've got a problem sleeping now.
i'm somehow adjusted to 6am.
so no matter how late i sleep.
i have to get up at 6am.
well that and partly because the al;arm clock is still on at 6, and i'm lazy to change it.
and i can't even take long naps either. it's just a problem falling asleep.
gah. and my feet look like they belong on a dinosaur.
it's all dry and grey.. and the rough parts are brown..
and my 2nd toe's turning blue black cause i bumped it too hard when i was in my sneakers.
ah well. atleast the ugly nails can be fixed with nail polish.
and maybe some extra strong moisturizer for the feet.
my hair's dropping. and it's not just from my head. i blinked once today and an eyelash just dropped out.
and a month back i rubbed my eye and like an entire stalk of eyelashes fell apart..
and dying one's hair is not the best thing to do to it either.
the hairdresser and i settled for the brightest red in the book, cause she reasoned that my hair's super dark and it's only a bright colour like that which would stand out.. so i said ok.
and now the colour's fading, but the damage still remains.
gah. the price of vanity.

let's backtrack.
dad left for another conference last night. but he's stopping over in london for a while to meet his mom and sisters.
my mom hates it, obviously. that's why she didn't go along too.
anyway he was going to visit gee so gee sends me an sms the day of his departure entitled URGENT.
and tells me to find her longines watch and go to lee hwa to buy her a ring.
which i actually don't mind doing though. since i'm all free with nothing to do.
if you're interested, she bought the three stone (amethyst, topaz and quartz) contempo ring from the Xtraordinare fall series.
my sis has good taste. can't deny that.
sometimes i envy the way she manages to blend quirky into classic.
when i try to be quirky i just end up looking weird.
and she jsut called to thank me for it.
well not her per se. was on the phone with dad, and he mentioned that he's passed her the ring. and then she overhears and yells "tell her thank you" in the background.
it's a really nice ring.
one of those things that when you first see it looks weird in the ring-box and then when you see it on her it actually looks nice..
and when she comes over to singapore, people cannot believe that we're sisters.
i keep telling myself it's because i'm taller, so people don't expect her to be shorter than me.
or that she's got the london uptown accent, while i'm still stuck with the typical singaporean unglam drawl.
but who am i kidding, anyway.

lots of free time now.
maybe that explains the revival.
it's a weird feeling.. coming home with nothing to study at all.
i mean, it's not like i *want* to study.
but it's just a bit weird. no formulas in your head. and even if you wanted, there wuold be none that are useful.
i guess that's good in a sense..
more brainspace for the finer things in life.
people's birthdays.. phone numbers and addresses, when to do what.
speaking of which.
i need to clean my room.
yes, it's often overused and overexaggerated, but now it's serious.
i really need to clean my room.
it's come to a point where all 4 chairs have books on them, and there's hardly a square 100cm of tablespace left.
everything's just piled on top of each other.
and to use the com, i either have to kneel down in front of the computer, or spend some time dragging my bed to the space in front of the computer so i can sit on the mattress..
not good.
especially since mine's an old, huge and heavy queen size.
to make matters worse, i'm trapped near the window so i've got to stand up and walk across the mattress to the other side of the room when the phone rings..
which is no easy feat either since my bed's old and lumpy, and it takes balance to walk to the other end..
and the table's in a real sorry state too. it makes the room look really bad since the interior designer made it so that it stretches from one side to the other..
one day if i have the courage, i'll take pictures of this hurricane wrecked place and post it up..
i'm a good little girl for the rest of the house, though.
been mopping and vacuuming the other rooms. maybe i'm becoming more considerate. or maybe i'm just bored.
perhaps that explains the whole singaporean inconsiderate attitude..
we're all too busy running around doing different things and we've got a million things in our head.. it doesn't occur to us to return a smile... or anything else for that matter.
the government should declare something fun. like "pass it on" day, or something. where everyone just goes around passing on good deeds.
you've got to make it a public holiday, though. otherwise it lends no weight.

This may take a few minutes, if you have a large blog.
gah. save me. blogger's irritating me cause it slowly goes up to 100% and then starts to zero again.
yes i know it's "a large blog".
but hey, aren't you happy it's back?
and let's face it - you missed me too.
it's been almost a year.
wow.
i guess i haven't blogged a lot of stuff.
let's see what has happened.
- i've turned 18.
- perfect sister got married to not-so-perfect husband
- i've graduated from RJC
- i'm now "a streaky redhead". (much to mommy's chagrin)
- i've overcome contacts.
- i've overcome school proper.
- i no longer have a uniform to wear.
- my usually long hair is now cut to the shortest it's been in 5 years.
- i now have to blog in notepad and then copy it into blogger since its server is probably pmsing and irritated with me for not hanging with it for more than half a year.
